The following lists some of the courses and training that can be provided.

RYA Sailability Achievement Scheme The Achievement Scheme is a great scheme whereby any client interested in sailing can progress from some elementary aspects of sailing through to elements that would be challenging for most people. RYA Sailability Racing Scheme The Racing Scheme is intended for those interested in racing, or just having another aspect to sailing to consider. Clients Basic sailing skills None
RYA Dinghy Level 1 Start Sailing This is a formal RYA certificate, which may need to be endorsed depending on a person’s capability. This provides someone with the basics of sailing. Clients and helpers None Able to sail in light winds under supervision Estimated at £5-£10 to cover costs for certificates and books.
RYA Dinghy Level 2 Basic Skills This is a formal RYA certificate, which may need to be endorsed depending on a person’s capability. This is considered to be the level of competency most clubs require to allow someone to sail in a hired boat. It should provide the confidence and capability to sail where you want, and get back safely, including judging weather conditions. RYA Dinghy Level 3 Better Sailing This is a formal RYA certificate, which may need to be endorsed depending on a person’s capability. This enhances skills with elements from the advanced modules. Clients and helpers At a comparable standard of Level 2, which can be by assessment. More confident in sailing skills and techniques, and ready to progress onto the advanced modules Estimated at £5-£10 to cover costs for certificates and books.
RYA Dinghy Seamanship Skills This is a formal RYA certificate, which may need to be endorsed depending on a person’s capability. This includes different launching/ recovery and e.g. anchoring Clients and helpers At a comparable standard of Level 3, which can be by assessment. RYA Dinghy Day Sailing This is a formal RYA certificate, which may need to be endorsed depending on a person’s capability. RYA Sailing With Spinnakers This is a formal RYA certificate, which may need to be endorsed depending on a person’s capability. Focuses on hw to sail with a spinnaker Clients and helpers At a comparable standard of Level 3, which can be by assessment. Able to use a spinnaker either conventional or asymmetric Estimated at £5-£10 to cover costs for certificates and books.
RYA Powerboat Level 1 This is a formal RYA certificate, which may need to be endorsed depending on a person’s capability. Not normally run - normally entry is at Level 2 Clients and helpers None A basic understanding of powerboating Enquire for details
RYA Powerboat Level 2 This is a formal RYA certificate, which may need to be endorsed depending on a person’s capability. This is the standard for most establishments allowing people to drive powerboats. Clients and helpers None Able to handle a powerboat in familiar waters by day Enquire for details
RYA Safety Boat This is a formal RYA certificate, which may need to be endorsed depending on a person’s capability. This teaches safe boat and crew recovery etc. Helpers Powerboat Level 2 Able to provide safety cover in a racing or training environment Enquire for details
BSCSG Client Training area that a client would like to learn about, we will endeavour to gear sessions to provide that guidance. Clients None None
BSCSG Specific Training We run training geared for the helpers for the sessions. This includes anything from sailing and powerboat refreshers to boat rigging, hoist usage and Pioner clamps. These sessions are tailored to the aspirations of those attending. Helpers None None
Disability Awareness Course This is course for those who would like to gain more confidence in dealing with those with disabilities. The course covers a number of disabilities, and provides some guidance on handling, and working with those with disabilities. RYA Volunteer Scheme The Volunteer Scheme is there to encourage people to progress and learn more skills. A logbook is issued to all participants and to obtain the first award, it is mandatory to complete the Disability Awareness Course. A certificate is awarded at each level, and at each successive level, there is an additional reward. Helpers None None
